The **South Texas Operations Manager** is responsible for overseeing daily oil and gas production operations, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant execution of field activities. This role requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and a commitment to operational excellence while managing cross\-functional teams and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
**Scope of Responsibility**
The Operations Manager will lead the team responsible for:
* Production operations including 4,600\+ producing wells, 400\+ production facilities, and associated personnel.
* Operational support functions such as maintenance, I\&E, automation, communications, measurement and chemical
**Key Responsibilities**
**Operations Management**
* Ensure safety and compliance requirements are met by employees and contractors
* Direct daily field operations for assigned producing assets, ensuring optimal production rates and equipment reliability
* Develop and implement operational strategies to enhance production efficiency and reduce operating costs
* Implement remedial actions to address production declines or equipment failures
* Coordinate with reservoir engineering, production engineering, and facilities teams to optimize field operations
**Safety \& Compliance**
* Lead a culture of safety excellence, ensuring all operations comply with company values, HSE policies, and regulatory requirements
* Conduct regular safety audits, risk assessments, and incident investigations
* Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations (RRC, EPA, OSHA, etc.)
**Team Leadership**
* Demonstrated ability to lead and develop high\-performing teams
* Provides strategic direction, performance management, and coaching to Production Superintendents who oversee day\-to\-day field execution
* Strong problem\-solving and decision\-making capabilities under pressure and significant change
* Unify operational culture and deliver on transformational operational goals.
* Foster collaboration across departments including engineering, land, regulatory, and finance
* Manage contractor relationships and ensure adherence to company standards
**Financial \& Budget Management**
* Deliver budgeted production volumes and address variance to forecast
* Own annual operating budgets (OPEX) for the South Texas business
* Forecast, track, and analyze operational costs, identifying opportunities for cost optimization without compromising safety or production
* Approve AFEs and expenditures within delegated authority limits
**Technical Skills and Oversight**
* Translate corporate strategy into actionable field\-level execution plans
* Evaluate and implement new technologies and operational practices to improve efficiency
* Analyze production data, decline curves, and well performance metrics
* Develop and execute strategies to maximize field level uptime and asset reliability
* Coordinate facility upgrades, expansions, and major maintenance projects
* Ensure integrity management programs for wells, pipelines, and surface facilities are executed
* Oversee maintenance, I\&E, automation, communications, measurement, and chemical treatment programs to ensure optimal system performance
**Required Qualifications**
**Education \& Experience**
* Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related technical field
* Minimum 10\+ years of progressive experience in upstream oil and gas operations
* At least 3\-5 years in a supervisory or management role overseeing field operations
* Proven track record managing large\-scale production operations in South Texas or similar unconventional plays (Eagle Ford experience preferred)
**Physical Requirements \& Working Conditions**
* Regular travel to field locations (up to 50% of time if officed in Houston)
* Availability for on\-call responsibilities and emergency response
* Ability to work in field environments with exposure to weather conditions, noise, and industrial hazards
* Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record
