bp’s Oil and Gas Technology (OGT) group is at the forefront of technology development, enabling safe, reliable, and efficient operations across bp’s portfolio. Within OGT, the Subsurface \& Wells Technology (SS\&W) team delivers high\-impact, innovative solutions to priority business challenges across bp’s oil, gas, and low\-carbon businesses.
The Wells Technology Unit is one of four core delivery areas within SS\&W, focused on advanced drilling, completions, interventions, surveillance, and fluids technologies.
This role is a Senior Completions \& Interventions Engineer acting as a technical squad lead, responsible for shaping and delivering completions and interventions solutions to prioritized business challenges. The role combines deep technical expertise with strong project management, stakeholder engagement, and the ability to influence across disciplines and delivery teams.
Key Accountabilities
Lead the development and deployment of completions and interventions solutions that improve well productivity, recovery, reliability, and cost efficiency
Act as a technical squad lead, coordinating a small, multi\-disciplinary group of contributors aligned to a defined problem or delivery scope
Provide technical leadership in completions and interventions, from concept development through design, execution support, and deployment
Drive project execution, including scope definition, planning, risk management, and delivery against agreed work
Collaborate closely with operations teams, subsurface partners, and central wells teams to ensure solutions are operationally relevant and adoptable
Lead engagement with suppliers and service companies, shaping technology development, tool selection, qualification programs, and field trials
engineering judgement to prioritize work and manage trade\-offs, focusing effort on the highest\-value opportunities
Communicate progress, risks, and outcomes clearly to senior stakeholders, influencing decisions and alignment across the organization
Capture findings and contribute to the completions and interventions technology roadmap
Experience / Capabilities
Bachelor of Science in Engineering (or equivalent); Petroleum, Mechanical, Chemical, or related discipline preferred
Extensive experience as a Completions and/or Interventions Engineer, with strong technical depth and operational credibility
Experience across land and/or deepwater operations, with exposure to complex or high\-risk well environments
**Technical expertise in one or more of the following areas:**
Subsea and/or surface tree interventions, including well access, intervention planning, and execution
Sand control design and execution, including gravel packs, frac packs, screens, and completions integrity considerations
Completion system design, including tubing, packers, flow control devices, and intelligent or advanced completions
Well intervention technologies, including wireline, coiled tubing, workover, or light intervention systems
Experience working with service providers and technology suppliers, including trial design, qualification, and deployment
Demonstrated ability to lead technical delivery as a squad lead, influencing without direct line management
Strong project management capability, including planning, execution, and delivery of multiple work scopes
Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to influence across disciplines and seniority levels
Proven critical thinking and problem\-solving skills, with a focus on practical, deployable solutions that deliver business value
