**Job Summary**

The Maintenance Engineer – Electrical ensures reliable operations by providing frontline expertise in the maintenance and optimization of electrical assets including VFD systems at Freeport LNG. This role applies both proactive and reactive maintenance strategies to sustain equipment reliability and performance. Acting as a technical resource, this position involves troubleshooting, repair guidance, and collaboration with cross\-functional teams while focusing on safety, implementing strategies to enhance reliability, and continuous improvement of electrical assets to minimize downtime.


Location/Travel Information


This position is based at the Terminal Facility, LQF or PTF, with travel to off\-site locations as required. This position requires the incumbent to hold a valid, unexpired driver license at all times in order to perform the essential functions of the job.

**Duties/Responsibilities**

* Safety\-Centered Approach


Prioritize safety above all tasks, ensuring both personal safety and the safety of other personnel during all maintenance and operational procedures.

Ensure compliance with FLNG safety standards, procedures, and PPE requirements, incorporating safety into every stage of repair, calibration, and troubleshooting.

* Reliability Monitoring and Analysis


Continuously monitor the performance of electrical systems, proactively identifying issues and negative trends that could impact reliability or lead to process failures.

Establish or improve equipment monitoring capabilities, including the implementation of missing equipment monitoring systems to prevent unexpected failures.

Distribute and discuss Technical Information Letters (TIL’s) and/or Service Bulletins (SB’s) with Maintenance, Operations, and Engineering as needed.

Plan and implement any TIL or SB recommendations once approved.

Provide information regarding the latest advancements in Conversion, Modifications and Upgrades (CM\&U) opportunities to site personnel and assist with the implementation of any recommendations once approved.

Perform on\-site inspection/review of parts (new, used, or refurbished) for completeness or damage, as applicable.

Advise with respect to the parts provided (or required to be provided), including identifying any missing spare parts.

Work with Engineering team to conduct regular reviews of maintenance activities associated with VFD Systems.

* Problem Solving and Root Cause Analysis


Conduct basic “5 Why” analyses for equipment failures to identify root causes and recommend corrective actions.

Facilitate formal root cause investigations, sharing insights into repair techniques and recurring failure modes.

Collaborate with engineers and maintenance technicians to implement solutions that address chronic failures, improving long\-term reliability.

Engage in equipment disassembly and existing condition evaluation to determine potential root causes for equipment failure. Oversees equipment rebuilds to ensure proper reassembly. Identify any necessary hold points for critical equipment.

* Technical Expertise and Advanced Troubleshooting


Act as the go\-to subject matter expert on advanced electrical systems including VFD troubleshooting, repair methods, and replacement practices.

Provide coaching and technical guidance to craftspeople and operations personnel, fostering skill development in proper repair practices and advanced diagnostics.

* Procedure Development and Quality Control


Develop, review, and refine maintenance and repair procedures, ensuring alignment with quality control standards and incorporating necessary repair details for optimal execution.

Ensure consistent application of these procedures by maintenance teams, contributing to the standardization of high\-quality repair practices across the site.

Ensure repairs, repair techniques, and equipment specific training are documented and retained per the records management requirements. (Including control system changes or modifications)

* Support for Maintenance Planning and Execution


Serve as a technical advisor to daily planners and turnaround planners, aiding in accurate job scoping and preparation for asset renewal and reliability improvements.

Assist in planning and scheduling of maintenance tasks, especially for complex repairs and calibration activities during routine maintenance and turnaround projects.

Assist in identifying the correct vendors for on\-site and off\-site VFD equipment jobs and work with purchasing to add vendors as needed.

Coordinate GEPC’s local support and customer support line.

Control and manage site services progress to ensure timely completion of services.
