Job Description

The **Project Controls Engineer** provides cost governance and financial control across multiple large\-scale construction projects throughout the United States. This role partners closely with Project Management, field leadership, and commercial teams to ensure accurate cost tracking, disciplined change management, and timely reporting that protects project margins and supports contractual outcomes.



This position requires travel to active project sites in **Arizona, Texas, Virginia**, and other locations as additional projects come online.


### **Key Responsibilities**


* Perform material quantity takeoffs from drawings, design releases, and project documentation
* Track installed quantities in the field and validate progress against project plans
* Maintain quantity logs by tool, area, system, and work package
* Assemble backup documentation for T\&M, unit\-rate, and change order work
* Draft initial change order packages for review by Project Management and Commercial leadership
* Support invoice backup, reconciliation, and cost validation
* Coordinate closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, field leadership, and Commercial teams
* Monitor cost trends, variances, and potential margin impacts
* Support project reporting, forecasting, and documentation requirements
* Ensure cost records and supporting documentation are accurate, current, and audit\-ready


### **Experience \& Qualifications**


* Minimum of **5 years of experience** in project cost control, quantity surveying, construction cost management, or a related discipline
* Ideal candidate has a degree in Construction Management or Engineering
* Strong experience with quantity measurement, installed progress tracking, and cost forecasting
* Ability to interpret drawings, pricing documents, contracts, and cost structures tied to installed quantities
* Advanced Excel skills required
* Experience with cost control systems, field reporting platforms, or project management software preferred
* Background in large\-scale construction, industrial, semiconductor, LNG, infrastructure, or similar project environments preferred
* Strong understanding of project cost planning, scheduling, reporting, and variance analysis
* Comfortable working on\-site and interfacing directly with field leadership, project managers, clients, and commercial stakeholders
* Strong communication, documentation, and stakeholder management skills
* Ability to operate effectively under tight deadlines and commercial pressure
* Willingness and ability to travel to multiple project sites as business needs require
