Job Description
**Austin Metro \| Texas – Hybrid/Remote**
Opportunity for licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.)
Level Engineering \& Architecture is seeking a Licensed Civil Professional Engineer (P.E.) in the Austin Metro and surrounding areas. 1099 contract, with base pay \+ up\-capped commissions, a full workload opportunity that allows for flexibility, within the Austin Metro region.
**Hybrid Location**: Day\-to\-day work is remote, with local presence required for site visits, meetings, and municipal coordination.
**COMPENSATION \& STRUCTURE**
This is a **hybrid 1099 contracted role** offering a base salary with performance\-based upside.
* Base salary of $50,000 annually (paid bi\-weekly)
* Performance\-based commissions earned once the monthly minimum production expectation is met
* Typical annual earnings range from **$75,000 to $300,000\+**, depending on workload and capability.
* Uncapped earning potential tied directly to project volume and individual capacity
Level provides **professional liability (E\&O) insurance coverage**, removing a significant cost and risk burden typically borne by independent contractors. This coverage is included as part of the overall compensation structure.
The first **60–90 days** are treated as a ramp period to allow time for onboarding, systems integration, and pipeline development before transitioning into the standard production expectations.
**CORE RESPONSIBILITIES**
* Execute civil engineering design and analysis for:
* *Land development*
* *Roadways, bridges, and trails*
* *Drainage and grading*
* *Water and wastewater systems*
* *Municipal and on\-call projects*
* Prepare design documents, technical reports, and calculations
* Coordinate with surveyors, geotechnical consultants, and internal teams
* Project Manage individual projects and client relationships independently
* Communicate professionally and directly with clients, municipalities, and other stakeholders
* Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and regulations
* Support quality control and project delivery schedules
* Engineers/Architects who experience the highest success develop and maintain a personal referral\-based project pipeline
**QUALIFICATIONS**
**Required:**
* Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
* Professional Engineering License or active licensure track
* 6\+ years of civil engineering experience with increasing responsibility
* Strong civil design background (land development and/or municipal)
* Proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D
* Experience coordinating consultants and project partners
* Ability to manage projects independently and meet deadlines
* Strong written and verbal communication skills
* Authorized to work in the United States (no sponsorship)
**Preferred:**
* Experience with stormwater management and grading design
* Familiarity with municipal permitting and review processes
* Prior experience working directly with clients and other stakeholders
