Job Description

**Position Summary**

We are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead owner’s\-side technical oversight for a major hydrogen plant project in Houston, Texas, with an estimated capital investment of $5–8 billion.

This role will be responsible for ensuring the project’s technical integrity, multidisciplinary integration, design quality, operability, maintainability, and safe execution across the project lifecycle. The Engineering Manager will work closely with licensors, EPC/EPCM contractors, equipment suppliers, procurement, construction, and commissioning teams to ensure the facility is designed to be buildable, operable, reliable, and safe.

The ideal candidate has strong experience in large process plant engineering and has worked in industries such as hydrogen, ammonia, syngas, refining, petrochemicals, industrial gases, LNG, gas processing, or power.

**Key Responsibilities**

* Lead owner’s\-side engineering oversight from concept development through FEED, detailed design, construction support, and commissioning
* Establish engineering governance, technical review processes, and design assurance standards
* Oversee multidisciplinary engineering integration across process, mechanical, piping, civil, structural, electrical, instrumentation, controls, utilities, and offsites
* Manage interfaces with technology licensors, EPC/EPCM firms, OEMs, and specialist consultants
* Review and approve key technical deliverables, specifications, equipment packages, and technical bid evaluations
* Ensure engineering decisions support safety, operability, reliability, maintainability, and lifecycle performance
* Support procurement activities through technical requisitions, vendor reviews, and package alignment
* Drive technical risk identification and mitigation, including constructability and startup readiness
* Participate in HAZOP, SIL, PSM, and related safety/design reviews
* Build and lead an owner’s technical team including discipline leads and subject matter experts

**Required Qualifications**

* Bachelor’s degree in chemical, mechanical, electrical, or related engineering discipline
* 12\+ years of experience in large industrial or energy project engineering
* Proven experience managing multidisciplinary engineering for major process facilities
* Strong experience working with EPC/EPCM firms, licensors, and external technical stakeholders
* Strong understanding of engineering deliverables, technical package management, and design review processes
* Experience in hydrogen, ammonia, refining, petrochemicals, industrial gases, LNG, gas processing, or power
* Strong technical leadership and decision\-making capability

**Preferred Qualifications**

* Direct hydrogen, ammonia, syngas, or industrial gas project experience
* Experience with process safety reviews including HAZOP / SIL / PSM
* Startup / commissioning support experience
* Familiarity with utilities, power integration, storage, compression, and offsites systems

**What Success Looks Like**

* Engineering scope is integrated, clear, and aligned with project objectives
* Technical rework is minimized through strong design assurance
* Licensor, supplier, and EPC interfaces are well managed
* Technical risks are surfaced early and resolved effectively
* The facility is designed for safe construction, startup, and long\-term operation

**Compensation**

* Base salary: $225,000 \- $300,000
* Target annual bonus: 20% \- 30%
* This will be a 1099 Based Wage with No Benefits

Pay: $225,000\.00 \- $300,000\.00 per year
