We are seeking an experienced Construction Manager to lead a major water infrastructure project in Austin. This role is critical to ensuring successful execution of mechanical and electrical aspects of construction, coordinating with stakeholders, and managing a team of professionals. You will oversee all phases of the project from procurement and bidding through commissioning and closeout while maintaining safety, quality, and client satisfaction.
**Project Overview**
The South Austin Regional Wastewater Treatment Plant is undergoing a rehabilitation and upgrade to modernize aging infrastructure and improve resilience. This multi\-year effort includes:
* Rehabilitation of Treatment Trains A \& B
* Construction of new electrical buildings with modern equipment
* Upgrades to air quality systems, fiber optics, mechanical equipment, and piping
* Enhanced drainage systems and improved operational controls
The project began in 2020 and is scheduled for completion by mid 2026, ensuring reliable wastewater treatment for Austin's growing population.
**Key Responsibilities**
* Manage process mechanical operations for water and wastewater projects from start to finish
* Serve as the primary interface with clients, contractors, engineers, and regulatory agencies
* Oversee construction management activities including contract administration, scheduling, change order management, and quality assurance
* Monitor project performance to ensure delivery on time and within budget
* Evaluate cost proposals and develop preliminary estimates
* Supervise project staff and enforce safety programs
* Support business development and attend industry networking events
**Qualifications**
* Bachelor's degree in engineering , construction management, or related field
* Minimum 12 years of experience managing municipal water/wastewater infrastructure projects (treatment plants, pump stations, pipelines, tunnels)
* 5\+ years of management experience including client interface, business development, and staff supervision
* CCM or PMP certification (or willingness to obtain in 12 months)
* Strong knowledge of construction methods, union jurisdiction, labor agreements, and negotiations
* Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills
* Proven ability to manage project P\&L and apply effective management techniques
