Job Summary
The Offshore Field Drilling Engineer will be the primary contact for project engineer(s) for communication to and from the rig to manage program implementation and questions as well as provide engineering expertise for all operational activities to assist the Senior Wellsite Leader. Position will be responsible for driving continuous improvement for all phases of rig operations. This position will confirm equipment arrival against load out lists / well program specs and witness execution of critical steps of the well program. Additionally, the OFDE will support and set an example for Murphy’s core values and HSE initiatives
The Offshore Field Drilling Engineer will work a rotational schedule on Murphy’s offshore rigs. This position will report to the Senior Wellsite Leader for daily and rig\-based tasks and the Superintendent for career development.
Responsibilities
Support Senior Wellsite Leader and Superintendent for all operational needs to deliver safe and efficient drilling results.
Author POAs to translate well program into tactical plan for rig site personnel to be approved by the Senior Wellsite Leader.
Complete DDR for review by Senior Wellsite Leader, in conjunction with Wellsite Leaders (time breakdown) and Logistic Coordinator (cost tracking).
Facilitate the lessons learned database from the rig site in coordination with the project engineer.
Drive continuous improvement through after\-action reviews, lessons learned implementation, and performance tracking. Identify and communicate efficiency and cost saving opportunities.
Familiarity and compliance with approved bridging / interface documents.
Lead HSE performance by example and ensure effectiveness.
Independent confirmation of contractor based drill pipe tallies, develop casing and landing string tallies, and track downtime/equipment failures.
Calculate and review cementing operation requirements.
Licenses/ Certifications
Willing to attend and be able to pass HUET (Helicopter Underwater Egress Training)
Willing to attend and be able to pass IADC WellSharp (Well Control certification)
Qualifications/Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in engineering
Desired/Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in petroleum or mechanical engineering
